Church of the Risen Christ
Chancel Remodel & Adoration Chapel - Denver, Colorado
This project was an extensive, interior remodel, which involved almost all areas of the Church building and added a new Adoration Chapel and Gathering Space at each entry. The Chancel Area of the Church was expanded to include an immersion baptismal pool with a life-size sculpture of the Risen Christ by Lynn Kircher of Colorado. The tabernacle was relocated to the Altar area and an ADA movable ambo was included.
The Holy Family Chapel was originally the Baptismal Chapel and this remodel included a new bronze sculpture of the Holy Family by Brian Hanlon of New Jersey and new glass entry, upholstery and finish.
The Adoration Chapel Addition is a new construction at the southeast side of the building and included excavation for a partial basement level for the Music Program and small meetings beneath the Church building. The main floor existing space was remodeled for a bride's area and new priest sacristy. An elevator was added to make all levels accessible for parishioners with special needs.
The existing entrances were remodeled and an addition was added to give gathering space for greeting parishioners and work space for new parishioners registration and parish information. Heavy glass doors were replaced with new automatic sliding glass doors.
Scheduling was critical to avoid major impacts on Parish activities. The Chancel remodel required two Sunday with services not in the Church building. The full project needed to be scheduled around funerals and weddings and wanted to be completed in three months.
